About myHome IP

myHome IP for macOS is a lightweight menu bar app that gives you quick access to your Mac’s current IP address and essential network and system information. The app regularly detects the external IP address of your internet connection and your Mac’s internal IP address. It also displays the hostname, installed macOS version, system uptime, memory, VPN status, and the time of the last update. The external IP address appears directly in the macOS menu bar and can be copied with just a few clicks. This is especially useful for home networks, VPN connections, servers, remote access, and other setups where the external IP address may change regularly. Expanded system status In addition to essential network information, myHome IP collects further details about the status of your Mac: - Current system thermal state - Battery and power source status - Available, used, and total storage - Volume name and file system - Mounted volumes - Active network interfaces - Mac app uptime - Time of the last update Notifications and automatic updates myHome IP updates network and system information regularly. The app can notify you when the external IP address of your internet connection changes. It can also notify you about changes to your Mac’s thermal state, such as when the thermal load increases or reaches a critical level. Access while away with the iOS app The myHome IP companion app, available separately on the App Store, adds mobile access to your Mac’s information. The Mac app makes its network and system information available through Apple’s iCloud service. This allows you to view the most recently synchronized information from your Mac on your iPhone, even while away from home. The iPhone app can display information including: - External and internal IP addresses - Hostname and macOS version - VPN status - System uptime and memory - Thermal state - Battery and power source status - Storage, volume, and file system information - Network interfaces - Time of the last update If you use myHome IP on multiple Macs, each device is stored separately in iCloud. You can then select a Mac in the iOS app and view its most recently synchronized information. The Mac and iPhone must use the same iCloud account, with iCloud enabled on both devices. To provide current information, the Mac must be turned on, connected to the internet, and running myHome IP. Privacy Your network and system information is not sent by email or stored on the developer’s own servers. Synchronization uses Apple’s iCloud Key-Value Store and is tied to your personal iCloud account. The iOS app only accesses information provided by your own Macs through the same iCloud account. Features at a glance - External IP address directly in the menu bar - Internal IP address and hostname - VPN status - macOS version, system uptime, and memory - Expanded thermal, battery, storage, and network status - Quickly copy the IP address - Automatic updates - Notifications when the external IP address changes - Notifications when the thermal state changes - IP history - Separate management of multiple Macs - Synchronization through Apple’s iCloud service - Mobile access through the separately available iOS app - Fully localized in German, English, and French All described macOS features are included without an additional subscription.
